Conclusions
To start, I’ll list the pros and cons that I have come up with for playing the drugstore game at RiteAid.
Pros:
It is fun, and keeps my mind challeneged, as a stay-at-home mom.
Always have gifts on hand that didn’t cost me much.
Now able to give more to people in need, and organizations, from my stockpile.
We are treated with free items that we don’t typically buy, like candy, snacks, and brand-name shampoo.
Cons:
It takes a lot of time to clip coupons, map scenarios, and go through the store.
Trying to find the products in the store while having a baby with you can be difficult.
Cost of Sunday newspapers and/or a subscription.
Time to drive to store, and gas costs, since I don’t live close to a RiteAid.
All said and done, I have had a lot of fun playing the drugstore game. If I had the past few months to do over, I wouldn’t change it. However, for me, it is quite difficult since I do not live very close to a RiteAid. With my baby, I can’t make a really quick trip between his naps and say that it is worth it.
Will I keep doing the scenarios and rolling my UP week after week? Probably. At least for the time being. But I also plan to evaluate how much time and energy it is taking from me and my family. I don’t want it to become a greater priority in life than the things that are most important to me.
Is it right for you?
If you live close to a RiteAid, or have one near a location that you go often, AND you have about $20-30 to initially invest in a scenario that will give you a high amount of UP rewards in return, I say yes, give it a try!
If you don’t, you aren’t missing out. You can watch for deals on all the items you would get for free by doing this, and still save money. Places like discount grocers, and re-uzit shops, and even online sales combined with free shipping offers are a great place to start.
But ultimately, I’ll let you decide whether it is right for you or not. Most importantly, have fun and remember to stay focused on what matters to you most.
