My in-laws found us a bread machine at a yard sale this year already! I’ve been wanting to try out some new recipes I am finding online. So far it is working great and we LOVE the fresh smell and taste of bread in our house.
I expected the worst, since I figured everyone has very bad luck with their first loaf of bread-machine bread. Therefore I tried this simple Pictured here is a simple homemade bread recipe for beginners. I must have been lucky, because my first loaf turned out awesome! I even liked it – and I was somewhat uncertain as to what it would it would be like.
Sure, it looks a little funny – but it was yummy! 🙂
NOTE > I have not figured out exactly how frugal it really is to make at home, but for this loaf at least, it was worth it. I used the FREE Fleischman’s Yeast I got last fall at Weis Markets when it was on sale, the whole wheat flour from Sharp Shopper (5lb bag for only $.69!), and the FREE milk I got on the Weis cereal deal.

Wow! What a great yardsale find! I’m excited about getting started again this year.
And we LOVE homemade bread around here. I don’t have a bread machine but I make my own with a Bosch mixer (it does all the kneading). I’m pretty sure that if you compare the cost to bought whole wheat good quality bread it is cheaper or at least as cheap to make your own. Of course if you’re used to white bread it is more expensive but SO much healthier! 🙂
