SuperBowl parties are fun and known for their great foods. But let’s face it, bringing those creative and memorable dishes to the party can get expensive. So how do you keep your budget low and still eat well? Consider these three party foods.
1. Keep it simple with Chips & Salsa
A common party favorite is chips and salsa. Instead of buying full price, name-brand chips—buy the cheapest you can find. And keep your eye out for coupons!
There are often coupons in the Sunday inserts for Grande chips which sell for $1.99 per bag. I have a Weis coupon for Grande chips (I found in one of their coupon booklets), which can be stacked with a doubled manufacturer coupon, making a full price bag of chips almost FREE!
Now that I have the chips, all I have to do is spice them up a little with some flavorful and unique salsas from Kitchen Kettle village like corn, mango, mild, peach, pineapple, roasted corn & black bean or zesty salsa.
2. Make Your Own Specialty Pizza
Another party favorite is pizza. Pizza is one of those foods that you can spend a lot or a little on. Save money and instead of ordering take out, make your own!
On the Kitchen Kettle website you can search their recipe database by product. The South of the Border Pizza is quick and simple, using only peach salsa, chicken and provolone cheese. To save even more, freeze the chicken and cheese when you find it on sale, and then get it out to thaw the day before.
With these flavors I’m sure you’re food will be the talk of the party!
3. Save Time and Put Your Crock Pot to Use
This crock pot Hamburger Cheese Dip can be served with the same chips you purchased above. The ingredients include ground beef, velveeta cheese, mild salsa, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder.
If you follow this blog throughout the year you’ll find that you can get Worcestershire sauce and chili powder for FREE by using coupons. And since their shelf life is long, you can stock up and save it for SuperBowl time!
As for the cheese, I recommend buying generic. You can save at least $2-$3 by purchasing CheeseMelt or another variety, instead of Velveeta. If you prefer Velveeta, Glennwood Foods in Ephrata often stocks it at a discounted price.
You can buy ground beef in bulk when its on sale, brown it, and freeze it in one pound bags so its ready to thaw, just like the chicken and cheese for your pizza!

I LOVE salsa! (And chips, and guacamole . . .). They all sound good but I think I am most tempted by the mango.

I would love to try the zesty salsa. There is nothing like chips and salsa. The Hamburger Cheese Dip you mentioned is something I enjoy having around, makes a quick snack. I like having it in the freezer if I need a quick snack.
