My Kindergartener had no school today. Last night he requested that we go on a nature walk on his day off. It turned out to be a perfect day for it today – I still can’t believe it was 70 degrees on November 6!
A few years ago, we started a habit of going on nature walks. So many moms comment to me how they would love to go on a walk during the day but their children would never do it with them! Or if she would be able to drag them along, they would whine and complain the whole time, so it wouldn’t end up being enjoyable.
How do I do it?
It’s really a very simple secret. One that I would love to share with you!
The secret? Masking tape or duct tape.
Yes, it’s that simple! No, not over their mouths (I know some of you were thinking that!) 🙂
We wrap the tape around their wrist, inside out. (The sticky side out.)
As they walk, they look for leaves, clovers, bush trimmings, grass, dandelions, tree seedlings . . . and they stick them to the tape.
Our walk today lasted about 30 minutes. During most of which I was enjoying the fresh air, silence and the beautiful views, all while getting some exercise.
Moms of little ones, here’s your encouragement. We can find the peace in our days if we look for it and plan for it! We can do it!
I’d love for you to share your nature bracelet walk story.
Here are some updated photos from our 2020 walk—the kids are now 6, 8 and 10 years old!!!
