Getting your family to laugh brings a tremendous joy into your home and life. A good laugh can cure any bad attitude, grumpy outlook or trying situation. But it can be hard to achieve with the stresses of this world, the pressures we put on ourselves and our kids and when frustration has just hit its point!
Raising kids is tough stuff. Especially if your kids are still little. Sometimes evenings just drag on. It is so easy to let anger or frustration get the best of you!
When we find those moments experiencing deep joy with our families—laughing together, being united and enjoying life—those are the memories that we want to hold on to forever!
Here are 5 YouTube Videos To Watch With Your Kids That Will Inspire and Motivate the Whole Family
Last night we enjoyed one of those moments. The older kids were sitting quietly working on their fair projects at the table drawing butterflies with different types of artistic media. Our toddler was doing puzzles with us one-on-one and the house was quiet and peaceful. It was beautiful.
After the puzzles, Daddy gave the toddler some piano lessons just for fun, which transitioned into watching a three-year-old rockstar play an amazing classical piece on YouTube. Perfectly.
That then led to America’s Got Talent. Our family was watching child prodigies, laughing hysterically, being inspired and motivated to push ourselves to learn new things and be the best at what we do! Our kids went to bed dreaming about what they’re going to do the next morning and how they’re going to play the piano just like those YouTube stars! They had a new life and ambition to live for!
Then this morning on the way to our homeschool group, my three-year-old son said, “Mommy I want to tell you a joke.” And in a manner like the little comedian we saw on America’s Got Talent, he repeated a joke of his own. It was hysterical. (He has always been the comedian of the family!)
It is these moments that bring the deepest joy. Seeing our children relate to the gifts and passions they have been given, helping them to use their gifts and equipping them with the resources to know how to use them best is a gift that we as parents have been blessed to receive.
4 Year Old Plays Piano Better Than Any Master
This kid was fascinating to watch! We loved his enthusiasm and expression. Our children asked us questions about how he plays so fast. We talked about how you can learn to read music and play it, but also how you can learn to play by listening and watching others play. It made for good conversation and deep thinking. You can watch the video on YouTube by following this link.
3 Year Old Plays Piano (Minute in G Major)
This next video was good for the kids to watch because the three-year-old plays a little slower and its easier to see his hands play the notes. I think watching this boy play the piano brought it back to reality and is what invited them to ask themselves the question if they could learn to do that. One of my kids went to bed that evening so excited to wake up and play the piano first thing in the morning!
Unfortunately the owner of the video has turned off the ability to watch it on a site other than YouTube, so you’ll have to follow the link to watch the video.
9-Year-Old Piano Player Wows Judges on America’s Got Talent
You will LOVE getting to know this kid and his unique personality before you see him play the piano. It was definitely NOT what we were expecting for his performance, but impressive nonetheless! It should give your family some good smiles and laughs.
Kid Comedian Kills During His Audition on America’s Got Talent
I was a little worried when I saw my husband had queued up a kid comedian. You never know what a comedian might say. But this kid definitely had us all laughing hysterically. Our family observed how humor isn’t just in our words and what we say, but also in how we say them and our body language.
3 Year Old Violinist
We wanted to include some other instruments in our mix of videos, besides piano. This 3 year old violinist ended up being an excellent choice that kept us laughing. It was impressive that this little 3-year-old was playing in such a huge stadium and venue. Our kids thought and talked about what it would be like to have that many people watching you. We loved how he incorporated his personality into his ‘performance’, with his little water trick.
Please note, this video will feel long — I skipped parts of it for my very younger kids, but make sure you don’t miss the ending! It is not over until the very end.
Raising kids is not easy. So many parents of grown children tell me—be intentional, enjoy the small things and laugh a lot. We hope these videos got your family laughing and talking! If your kids are little, hang in there and keep at it. You got this!
