Saturday, April 21 is Earth Day! Over the years I have been learning about more and more earth day freebies and events in Lancaster County. If you know of any others, please add them to the comments below so I can keep this list growing!!
Art Matter Studio—FREE Earth Day Crafts. Art Matters Studio will be hosting a FREE Open House on Sunday, April 22 from 1:00-4:00 Enjoy making up-cycled crafts to celebrate Earth Day! The event is FREE but space and crafts are limited. Pre-registration required.
Sahd Metal Recycling. FREE event all about a metal recycling place in Columbia. It includes a tour of the facility and seeing how they move huge pieces of metal with trains, and a huge crane with a magnet, and lots of other things. Kids Cookie Break will be there, and it is very fun and informative for all ages.
Event will be from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM (EDT) at the Sahd Metal Recycling 1045 Lancaster Avenue Columbia, PA 17512.

Oregon Dairy Earth Day – FREE Manure. In celebration of Earth Day, The Farmstead at Oregon Dairy is giving away FREE Manure – up to 2 bushels! You provide the containers and we will fill them with FREE dehydrated cow manure for use in your flower beds and/or gardens. Earth Day at Millport Conservancy. Celebrate Earth Day at Millport Conservancy, featuring “Linden Hall’s 22nd Annual Art Show” from 10AM-4PM. Events include….

- Lori Stahl from BeeBees All Naturals will be here to share her knowledge! Her products will also be available for purchase.
- Trails will be open and available for exploring! Come enjoy nature along the stream, feed the trout, and check out our new apiary location for the bees!

Planet Earth—A STEM Event. Will be held at Eastern Lancaster County Library. Grades K-6. Registration is requested; walk-ins welcome. We will be talking about Earth Day! The program will include a storytime about Earth, its layers, and recycling. Afterwards, we will have activities and a take-home craft.

Earth Day Celebration at Aberdeen Mills. This event will be held April 21. Aberdeen Mills and the Tri County Conewago Creek Association invite you to our 9th annual Earth Day Celebration.
Enjoy a day at our farm on the banks of the Conewago Creek! Activities include a guided walk in the woods, tours of the 1774 Mill, ZooAmerica presentation, hands-on stream study. Help support the health of our watershed by participating in the on-site tree planting at 9am then stay for the fun. Opportunity to sign up to become a Member of TCCCA, Tri-County Conewago Creek Association, our local watershed group and Earth Day partner.

Astronomy Day at the North Museum. On Saturday, April 21, Astronomy Day will be celebrated at the North Museum of Nature and Science. Explore the cosmos on Saturday, April 21 and celebrate International Astronomy Day with the North Museum of Nature and Science!
Astronomy Day activities are included in your general admission, with planetarium shows costing an additional $4 per ticket. (If you are a member, it’s FREE!)
There will be plenty of space-themed activities throughout the museum, and we will also be joined by distinguished guests including:

– Astronomy Enthusiasts of Lancaster County

There is an Evening Observing at Franklin & Marshall College’s Joseph R. Grundy Observatory. As this component is weather-permitting, if the viewing has to be postponed due to the weather, notification will posted on the North Museum’s website (northmuseum.org) by 5:00 pm. If the observing session is canceled due to weather, the next observing attempt will be May 21.
Earth Day Wine Expo. April 22, 3-5pm at POUR-Craft Food and Drinks. Our spring wine tasting party returns this year with Earth Day Wine Expo on April 22. The afternoon features more than 40 earth friendly wines from around the world and light fare in the Artisans Gallery at POUR and on the patio outside.
