Legoland Discovery Center in Philadelphia has been called the Ultimate Indoor Lego Playground for a reason. Whenever you need to get your kids out of the house—whether a rainy day or cold winter day or a hot summer day when you need a little free air conditioning—this is the place to go.
Our family visited Legoland and spent the entire day there! Yes, the entire day. We didn’t intend to spend that much time there, but the kids enjoyed it so much we just couldn’t stop! Our kids were ages 3-7 years old and were occupied the entire time.

Here’s a glimpse of the fun your family will have at Legoland!
First things first . . . before I knew anything about Legoland I had no clue what it would be like. I will admit I was quite happy to discover its just inside the entrance of the Plymouth Meeting Mall (where the carousel entrance is)—which is super convenient for free parking! And its incredibly easy to get to from Lancaster—simple directions following the Turnpike.
Imagination Express
As you enter the Discovery Center you are given the option to ride the Imagination Express. Take the opportunity! It’s short, but fun, and your kids will LOVE it. Plus, if you arrive early in the day, the line can get long later in the morning or afternoon—and you won’t want to wait then, so ride it right away!
Journey from a soapy bath all the way to outer space. You’ll be given a magic wand to point at the screens—just like you’re in a video game!
Lego Creative Workshop
This was one of the first things we did once inside. We were lucky to get in line just in time—it fills up fast and the class size is limited! Each kid (even our 3 year old) received a small kit bag with pieces and the instructor carefully led the class to build the dragonfly. You don’t get to keep the dragonfly you built, but you’ll definitely want to enjoy this experience!
Private Adventure Island
Private Adventure Island is fun for all ages to get their energy out. Think HUGE enclosed play and climbing area!
Miniland
Miniland was breathtaking to say the least. A replica of the city of Phialdelphia is built from over 1.5 million lego pieces. See air ships swoop, and towers glow as it changes from day to night. The stadium was absolutely incredible!
Lego 4D Cinema
The Lego 4D Cinema was a nice break from an ordinary pace. It divided up our visit—since shows were only at certain times, we kept going back to watch each show. The kids love the glasses and the experience of getting wet or feeling wind! Its also the perfect opportunity for a quick nap for mom if needed—just sayin’ 😉
Lego Ninja Training Camp
This is perfect for kids of all ages (yes, that includes parents). You’ll train through interactive and build challenge activities to improve your flexibility, agility, ingenuity and LEGO brick building skills, plus you’ll get to test your skills on our brand new NINJAGO reaction test and Laser Maze! Trust me, you’ll keep going back to try this again and again!
Toddlers
There is also Duplo Park and Earthquake Tables that are fun for littler ones (although our 3 year old preferred to play with the big kid stuff).
And as you exit through the Legoland Discovery Gift Shop—you have to take the time to make your own personalized Lego figurine! 😉
