A friend recommended Lantz’s Discount Grocery Store to me a few months ago. Last week I was finally able to visit their store and check out their prices! I love finding these hidden secrets in Lancaster County!
And let me tell you, this is another hidden gem! The store itself is quite small but don’t let the size fool you. Shoppers can find a little bit of everything at Lantz’s. But what they are known most for is their bulk items and their cheeses. You are going to love their cheese selection!
To get to their cold room—the refrigerator room—you enter through this cute old door. I was a little nervous at first, but it was quite the experience, especially for my three year old! We literally walked “into” the refrigerator!
Inside the refrigerator, you’ll find dairy items like milk, cheese, butter, yogurt and eggs, as well as fruits, vegetables and some meats, like Gene Wenger’s hamloaf.
Let me tell you about their cheeses first, as they had quite a wide selection to consider. The prices were also extremely reasonable. You’ll find swiss, farmers, vegetable farmers, muenster, Guggisberg and more. The farmers cheese was priced at $2.69/lb.
And here are some photos from the rest of the ‘cold room’.
Throughout the rest of the store you’ll find lots of bulk food items—definitely the place to visit if you’re going to be a hosting a large family get-together or picnic, or even a bake sale.
And what I love about these small back-road stores is that you will always find unique little gift items like stickers, activity books, and mini animal crackers.
There is a pretty decent selection of soaps, cleaners, cereals, granola bars, candy and so on.
I was pretty excited to find these boxes of Graham Dippers for just $.50 and they weren’t even expired or close to expiration! I’m still not sure why they were so cheap, but I was pleased. I thought they’d make a great lunch box filler item or quick snack.
And angel cream? I’m not sure what that is, but you can find it here, along with yogurt culture and various spices too. 🙂
Lantz’s Discount Grocery is located at 105 Horseshoe Road in Leola, not far from Route 23. You will likely not find it listed on your GPS if you search for Lantz’s, but as long as you’re watching for the sign you won’t miss it. The building is back in a short lane, beside a house. They can be reached by phone at 717-656-4966.
Extra Tip >> Across the road from Lantz’s Discount Grocery is a roadside stand that sells pumpkins and some other cute little fall decor like Indian Corn Bundles and Wreaths, all at pretty reasonable prices.

I had trouble finding the address (or even the street) on Google Maps, but later realized it’s Horseshoe ROAD, not Horseshoe PIKE.
