Shopping at discount grocery stores in Lancaster County has saved our family an incredible amount of time and money. Time, because we can go on a larger shopping trip just once every few months for certain frozen foods and canned goods. Money, because the savings are just endless! Where else can you find yogurt tubs for $1, boxes of 80ct trash bags for about $4, discounted produce like raspberries and blueberries for $.50 a container and less?
You’ve probably heard of the main food chain discount stores like Aldi, Amelia’s and Save-A-Lot or Sharp Shopper. But what is so unique about Lancaster County, is there are dozens of smaller discount grocery stores that offer savings on unique items. Many of these little stores are Amish or Mennonite-run and offer bulk items that you might not find anywhere else.
Here’s a list of the Lancaster County Discount Grocery stores in alphabetical order. They can be hidden on back roads and easily missed—but worth a visit!
:: Aldi (Lincoln Highway East, Lititz Pike, Lancaster, Ephrata)
Not really a discount grocery store because its not dent and bent or close to expiration, but the prices are amazing so I include it on the list.
:: BB’s Grocery Outlet (Morgantown, Quarryville, Myerstown)
A post with pictures coming soon! You won’t want to miss this place. It has the best prices, but you do have to dig.
:: Centerville Bulk Foods (near Intercourse)
You literally find a little bit of everything at this store. Get a glimpse down each aisle in this photo review of the store.
:: Ebenezer Groceries (465 North Reading Road, Ephrata)
Here are some of my favorite items to buy at Ebenezer! They are especially known for gluten-free, organic, and specific foods like sprouted grain breads—although they have certainly expanded their selection tremendously in the past few years!
:: Eby’s General Store (Ephrata and Honey Brook)
:: Esh’s Discount Grocery (3736-B E Newport Road, Gordonville, PA 17529)
:: Glennwood Foods Discount Grocer (1614 Division Highway, Ephrata)
If you’ve never been to this store, be sure to check out my post on 25 Favorite Items to Buy at Glennwood Foods! It’s packed full of photos on the best buys you’ll find whether its food or trash bags.
:: Granny’s Discount Groceries (New Danville Pike)
:: Grocery Outlet (Rohrestown, Lancaster and New Holland)
We absolutely love Grocery Outlet! It used to be called Amelia’s, and it now has some of the best selection of unique products that I don’t see in any other discount stores in the area—specifically great selection of Keto diet foods and cultural varieties. We even found goat milk ice cream!
:: Green Hills Farm Discount Grocer (615 E Newport Rd, Lititz)
I have never actually shopped here, but so many readers tell me they love this store, especially for deli meats. One of these days I’ll get there and take some photos for those of you who are interested in checking it out. 🙂
:: Lantz’s Discount Grocer (Leola) Don’t miss their cold room, behind the neatest door! Your kids will think they are going on a secret adventure!
:: Save-A-Lot (222 S Queen St, Lancaster, PA 17603)
I don’t shop here often, but when I did I thought the prices were good and it was similar to Aldi.
:: Sharp Shopper (locations in Ephrata and Leola)
A great assortment of discounted items—canned, frozen, refrigerated, drinks, cereals, and bulk foods section too. Many locals do their weekly shopping trips here.
:: S&S Bulk Foods (Ephrata) Specializes in health-filled, quality gluten-free and organic bulk foods.
:: Weiser’s Grocery Store (Lititz and Akron)
This is not a discount grocery store, but it is a small family-owned grocery store that does offer incredible savings—especially when they have their meat sale. You can also grab a half-off deal for Weiser’s here!
:: Willow Creek Discount Grocery (30 Willow Street, Reinholds)
Find groceries, meat, cheeses, fruit, produce, and bulk foods. Located near the Adamstown Library and Boehringer’s Drive-In. Save $10 off $20 worth of groceries here!
Bulk Food Stores
The following are bulk foods stores, which have amazing prices on bulk foods, and often produce and household items as well—but are not necessarily discount grocery stores. I wanted to be sure to mention them though.
- Hillside Bulk Foods (Gap)
- Hilltop Acres Farm Market (Manheim)
- The Country Store (Mount Joy)
