When I was a kid I absolutely LOVED the Olympics. I loved the competitions, the stories of the athletes, and cheering on the underdog. I think the Olympics are sentimental in many homes, and looked forward to by many.
As my kids are getting older, I get even more excited about watching the Olympics every two years. But I also want to be intentional about it. I have learned that my kids like to be doing things and learning whenever they can, and its good for them to keep their minds occupied.
So this year, I decided to make a Kids Guide and Activity Workbook for the Winter Games, for each of them to go through while they watch the games. I included ways for them to practice math, spelling, geography, history, art and reading as they learn about opening and closing ceremonies, the tradition of the mascot and the history of the Olympic rings.
I made the pages engaging and interactive allowing them the opportunity to draw their own mascot, design their own medal, graph medals won by country, label world and local maps, and complete bio pages for their favorite athletes.
I’m most excited about this because at the end of the games they are going to have their own keepsake and souvenir for the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Games.
Then I thought, “hey, I bet other families would like to use this resource too.” I uploaded the file to Amazon, and now anyone can buy the workbook for their kids to journey through too! The book is geared for kids Kindergarten through 5th grade (the younger kids will need more help with it, but there are a few pages designed just for them too).

I’ve also made the file available as a PDF download, especially for families who have multiple children and want to print the book on their own. You could easily three-hole punch these pages and put them in a binder or a portfolio.
