Have you heard of Metro Diner? This restaurant just opened in Lancaster County in the new shoppes along Rohrerstown Road. Their slogan is “where the locals eat”, which I love because the first thing we noticed when we walked in the diner was two other families we knew eating there too! The locals really do love this place.
On their menu you find a variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner favorites, and of course a kids menu. We actually recommend skipping the kids menu though, and going family style. Order a few fun options and dive in together.
A good place to start is the Huevos Racheros. The Huevos Rancheros is like a breakfast appetizer with nachos, eggs and toppings. Only that description doesn’t do it justice at all, and neither does this photo.
You could fill up on the Huevos Rancheros, but restrict yourself because you won’t want to miss their fried chicken. We had the fried chicken and waffles.
Fried chicken is what the Metro Diner is known for, and after you take your first bite, you’ll understand why.
If you still have room, check out their Charleston Shrimp & Grits. This was an exquisite combination of flavors (grits, shrimp, bacon, chives), unlike anything I’ve had before. And would you believe that the kids loved it too?!
Of course you can just stick with the typical American fare menu, and you’ll still be thrilled.
You will feel like family. The service is incredible—everyone is super friendly. Managers, waiters and waitresses will have you smiling, laughing, and enjoying every minute of your meal. Their placemats say you’ll feel like family—and its the truth!
Metro Diner is located at 320 Rohrerstown Road, Lancaster, PA 17601. They are open Mon – Sat: 7:00 am – 9:00 pm, and Sunday: 7:00 am – 8:00 pm. You can read the Lancaster menu and specials on their website.
Our family recommends Metro Diner for Sunday Lunch, special occasions like Mother’s Day, and just any night you want to eat out as a family on a reasonable budget. They don’t offer a kids eat free night—but order a few of their larger platters mentioned in this post and your family will have more than enough to fill you up!
