Lapp Valley Farms is one of my favorite before-naptime ideas to do with your kids. Its also a great after-naptime idea in my opinion too. 😉
Lapp Valley is an Amish Farm located just south of New Holland, PA. Take your kids on a tour of the farm first, by stopping at the milk house and watching them milk cows (this happens around 4:30pm usually).
They use this milk to make their own ice cream right there on the property. You can also buy their milk in the store or through a drive through window (super-convenient if you live close by or your hands are full as you are leaving—just get your milk at the drive-thru when everyone is loaded up in the car).
Your children will then love experiencing the baby calfs, peacock, cats and you’ll usually spot some kittens too!
When you’re finished with the animals grab some hand-sanitizer (provided) on your way in to the store to get some of the best ice cream you’ll find in Lancaster County! Choose from vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, black cherry, mint chocolate chip, peanut butter twirl, coconut, or dozens of other flavors. FYI the waffle cones smell so good as they make them right there, that you probably won’t be able to pass up one of those.
Enjoy the beautiful views and fresh air!
Lapp Valley is open M-F from dawn to dusk, but closes at 6pm on Saturdays. They also have a stand at Green Dragon and Kitchen Kettle Village.
