Its that time of year for ice festivals and enjoying some amazing beautiful ice-carving competitions pieces of art! The Lititz Fire & Ice Festival is probably one of the most well-known, but here’s a list of several ice festivals in Lancaster County and surrounding areas—listed chronologically from January to March.
1. Reading Fire & Ice Fest
WHEN: January 17 – 18
WHERE: 500 Block of Penn Street, Reading
Reading Fire + Ice Fest will feature a variety of both indoor and outdoor activities, including a chili cook-off, Snowfall Ball, professional ice-carving competitions, fire performances, live music, and concession stands. All outdoor activities will again be free, and the chili cook-off and Snowfall Ball will have nominal entry fees.
2. FestiveICE
WHEN: January 16-18
WHERE: 5 Brooks Robinson Way, York PA
Every MLK weekend marks the return of FestivICE presented by York Traditions Bank. FestivICE is York’s cold-defying winter ice festival. In its 4th season in Downtown York, FestivICE is partnering with Children’s Aid Society to further its mission of helping children and their families build stronger, healthier lives. FestivICE packs over 20,000 pounds of interactive ice and even more entertainment into three days of fun. We’re talking about fire pits for roasting s’mores while chillaxin’ on the adirondack chairs, checking out the music and ice art in Cherry Lane Park, dancing with the FestivICE Yeti to the “Yeti Stomp”, and sending the kids down the FREE 40′ ice slide.
3. Chambersburg IceFest
WHEN: January 30 – February 2
WHERE: Chambersburg, PA
FYI: Your kids can ride the ice slide Thursday thru Sunday for FREE!
Pull out your favorite scarf and mittens, bundle the kids up and be sure to grab your camera; you won’t want to miss the faces of those that sit upon the giant ice throne for the first time or stand beside their favorite sculpture. 4. Heart of Lewisburg Ice Festival
WHEN: February 6-7
WHERE: Downtown Lewisburg
Annual Heart of Lewisburg Ice Festival event held in early February with large ice sculptures and ice carving demonstrations. Event also offers music, children’s activities, games, pancake and sausage breakfast, polar bear plunge, Chocolate Festival Tour, Chocolate Festival Ball, chili cook-off, 5K Run/Walk, and more.
5. Ice Art Fest Downtown Carlisle
WHEN: February 7 – 9
WHERE: Downtown Carlisle
Downtown Carlisle Association presents the UPMC Pinnacle Ice Art Fest will be held February 8-10, 2019. Over 70 different ice sculptures will be placed around downtown Carlisle for visitors viewing and picture taking pleasure. The Ice-Art Festival will combine many events and activities in one weekend including the PNC Chili Cook-Off, free movies by Sprint, and so much more.
6. 2020 Lititz Fire & Ice Festival
WHEN: February 14 at 5pm – February 16 at 9pm
WHERE: Lititz, PA
Starting on Friday, the Lititz Fire & Ice Festival is a special event for downtown Lititz. Events include a downtown block party, winter carnival, chili cook-off, and more.

7. Ice & Fire Festival Harrisburg
WHEN: March 7
WHERE: Downtown Harrisburg
Saturday, March 7 | 11am-8pm | Downtown Harrisburg Warm up your winter blues at Harrisburg’s largest winter festival!
Enjoy FREE ice skating, dozens of ice sculptures, fire dancers, an ice slide, Artist Market, fire pits and smores, food trucks, glass blowing workshops, performances by local youth and community groups, ice cream eating contest and more!
Street parking is free after 5pm and before that you can use the code LUVHBG on the Parkmobile app to get 4 hours of free street parking. SP+ will also offer a $10 rate at the Market Square Garage from 10am-10pm.
