Have you heard about The Kindness Rocks project? What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year than to join a national movement focused on encouraging everyone to spread kindness all through the year!
Instead of giving out paper Valentines that will get read once and then thrown away, consider making your own Valentines by using rocks and then encouraging others to join The Kindness Rocks Movement!
What is the kindness project?
The Kindness Rocks Project was started several years ago by a self proclaimed kindness encourager, Megan Murphy. Megan is from the New England area, where the rocks are smooth and round, perfect for painting inspiring messages!
You can listen to Megan’s podcast where she beautifully explains the Kindness Rock Project or check out the website, but basically, she got the idea to use rocks painted with inspiring quotes and messages to encourage and uplift complete strangers.
Megan would paint rocks, tag them with a Facebook hashtag, and then hide them for others to find and be inspired. Once someone finds a rock, they can post a picture of it, where they found it and how it impacted them on a local Kindness Rocks Facebook page where the artist can look and see how their rock impacted someone else! Then the finder can either keep the rock or re-hide it.

This year for Valentines, we want to encourage and inspire you to try something new—something that will spread joy and kindness throughout the year, not just for one day!
