WHAT: The Lancaster City Visitor Center, 38 Penn Square, will host “The Road to Freedom Takes Many Paths – African American Heritage in Lancaster County” exhibit in their second-floor gallery space.

WHAT: Join us for a screening of the critically acclaimed film, Marshall, which follows the early legal career of the Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall.

African American Heritage Walking Tour
WHAT: A 90 minute walking tour of Lancaster County and the history of the Underground Railroad.

President’s Day
LancasterHistory.Org Presents: The Lafayette Square Tragedy
WHAT: Experience history this Presidents’ Day at President James Buchanan’s Wheatland! In this first-person presentation, visitors will be transported back to the White House in late February 1859 as President Buchanan, First Lady Harriet Lane, and housekeeper Hetty Parker celebrate the admission of Oregon as the 33rd State of the Union. Learn the President’s thoughts about the celebratory event, plus the dastardly crime that is occupying everyone’s mind—the “Lafayette Square Tragedy”—which occurred not too far from the White House.

Eisenhower’s National Historic Gettysburg Home
WHAT: Eisenhower National Historic Site is the home and farm of General and President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Located adjacent to the Gettysburg Battlefield, the farm served the President as a weekend retreat and a meeting place for world leaders. With its peaceful setting and view of South Mountain, it was a much needed respite from Washington and a backdrop for efforts to reduce Cold War tensions.

Valley Forge National Park Presents: Celebrate George Washington’s Birthday!
WHAT: Celebrate General George Washington’s Birthday With Us for FREE!
WHEN: February 18, 10am – 1pm
WHERE: Valley Forge National Park
Washington Crossing National Park Presents: George Washington’s Birthday Party
WHAT: Bring the whole family to help George Washington celebrate his 287th birthday. Various children’s activities will be offered in the park buildings and Visitor Center. At 2 PM, visitors will sing Happy Birthday to George and enjoy cake, donated by The Caketeria in Newtown, that he will cut with his sword. This event is FREE.
