I saw in the Lancaster County Deals & Savings Group this week that Wegman’s is offering incredibly reduced prices until March to one select items, so I stopped by last week and grabbed some of the deals my family with use. (The temporary price reductions are effective through March 2, 2019!)
In this post I’ll show you how I spent $29.26 on these special Wegman’s Lancaster Price Reductions to plan 6 of our family dinners this week!
The Wegman’s Lancaster Temporary Price Reductions
I bought one family pack of the chicken breast and one family pack of the ground beef. In addition to a bag of onions, bag of potatoes, and two bags of salad to serve with the meals. My total spent amount was $29.26.
- Wegmans Boneless Chicken Breast, $9.45
- Wegmans 80% Lean Ground Beef Family Pack, $13.45
- Wegmans Giant Bread, $.99
- Wegmans Spring Mix, $1.50 each (x2)
- White Chef Potatoes, $1.50 (x2)
- Onions, $.99
The 8 Meals I Made for $29.26!
Recently, I have been loving using my Saturday mornings to work ahead and prepare as many meals as I can for the week ahead. This way I don’t have as much meal prep time, or meal cleanup time the rest of the week! This Saturday, I decided to use the food I bought at Wegmans to make all my meals!!
I ended up making 8 meals for my family, two of them lunches. I used the chicken breasts and ground beef, along with some ingredients I had on hand to make these eight meals.
Several of these meals I put in ziploc bags and threw them in the freezer. That way if something comes up and we have a change of plans, I can use them next week instead!
- Crock Pot Applesauce BBQ Chicken, serve with rice and a veggie
- Crock Pot Salsa Verde Chicken, serve with rice and a salad
- Island Chicken, serve with rice and a salad
- Chili Casserole with Cornbread
- Family-Favorite Country-Style Meatloaf (x2)
- Sloppy Jo’s (x2), for lunches
I plan to serve the meals with the salad and sides I also purchased at Wegman’s Lancaster, and use the bread for the sloppy jo’s.
Yes, I did use ingredients I had in my pantry and stock pile (cream cheese, can of tomatoes, ketchup, rice and cornbread mix), but even with the price I paid for those items, and considering the leftovers I know we will have with each meal, I consider my cost to be less than $30 for 8 meals. I’m pretty content to know that I fed my family fresh, home-made foods this week for just $5 per meal.
