I recently tried a new grocery savings app that allows me to purchase discounted, surplus groceries directly through my phone and then pick it up at a FlashFood zone in one of a few select Giant grocery stores in Lancaster County.
This new app is only available in Canada, and they are just starting to introduce it in Lancaster County, PA too! How crazy is that?

Tips for Finding the Best FlashFood Deals
After shopping Flashfood for over 6 months now, I have noticed a few tips for finding the best prices and availability of products.
- Shop Monday mornings. Several times, after the weekend, I find good discounts on Monday mornings. Actually the discounts are always the same, but I notice that the best meats and cuts are available then.
- Check the app often. Sometimes I see them adding new items every few hours, although most often its early in the morning where I see most new items appear.
- Check the app while you are in Giant shopping. If you can remember, check the app before you checkout becuase there might be some items that you want to grab before you the leave the store.
- Visit multiple locations. If you are driving in the area of another Giant, check the FlashFood app for that location. I often find different items available at different stores. I think maybe the manager decides what to put in their FlashFood area and so some stores have more bakery items and others have better meat selection.
