Do you have a child who wants to learn to play the acoustic or electric guitar? One of the worship leaders at our church, has started offering online guitar lessons, with the intended purpose of teaching worship songs and preparing students to play on a church worship team.
Who should take guitar lessons?
- Anyone interested in the guitar, whether acoustic or electric.
- Its recommended that students are at least 8-10 years old before they start, and that they have a desire to learn. Kids typically have more developed motor skills and focus at this age, but each kid is unique so there can be exceptions.
- Anyone interested in playing on their church worship team, although this certainly is not a requirement. My son for instance, doesn’t have that in mind at all. He just wanted to learn to play the guitar.
What does the guitar lesson include?
My 10-year-old son started guitar lessons with Adam in March via Zoom. He had no experience playing guitar before that. After the first lesson Adam had taught him a few chords and he started practicing for about 15 minutes, three times a week or so.
Each week before my son’s lesson, Adam emails me a sheet to print out (sometimes its chords and fingering, sometimes its music with lyrics and chords), that he will utilize during that weeks lesson. My son simply sets up the laptop or a tablet, and begins the lesson.
He has now been taking lessons for almost 3 months, and he is playing songs like Set My Heart, and See a Victory. He’s very excited because he just learned that in his next lesson he’ll learn Death was Arrested, which is his all time favorite worship song that we sing at church!
In lessons with Adam through Guitar4Worship, students will . . .
- Learn chords, strum patterns, scales, music theory, proper technique, your favorite worship songs, and to write your own songs.
- Practice with supporting material from your inbox.
- Connect online in person for a 30-minute lesson every other week.
As a busy mom, my favorite part of the lesson is that it is ONLINE. I love efficiency and it always drives me a little crazy when I need to transport kids to a lesson or class and the rest of us need to find something to do while we wait. With an online lesson, my son can just go in another room and practice, while the rest of us are at home doing whatever we need to do. No interruption to our day!!
I also love that I can fully trust Adam as my son’s instructor. I know Adam and his parents personally and I know their character. I have absolutely no issues leaving the room during my son’s lesson (I did sit in on the first lesson because I never learned to play the guitar and was curious about learning myself!).
How much do the lessons cost?
Lessons cost $22 per 30 minute lesson. The price is the same whether you choose acoustic or electric guitar.
But here’s the great news—you can get your first lesson for FREE! If you mention FRUGAL LANCASTER, Adam is willing to give the first lesson for completely FREE! How generous he is to do this! If it is not the perfect fit for your family, you don’t need to continue or pay anything.
